2009 Shropshire Business Awards

The best of Shropshire’s business will be showcased in the most spectacular fashion at the 2009 Shropshire Business Awards organised by Network PR on behalf of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and the Shropshire Star.

Now in its ninth successful year, the Shropshire Business Awards is quite simply the highlight of the business social calendar, a glittering evening with a 3 course dinner, live entertainment, fun casino and guest speaker Gerald Ratner.

An acclaimed after dinner speaker and amusing business raconteur, Gerald Ratner famously admitted that his company’s products were “total crap” in a speech to the Institute of Directors in 1991.

His comments were seized upon by the media and his once successful jewellery business faced ruin. After bankruptcy and a breakdown, the 60 year old tycoon persuaded the banks to loan him enough cash to set up a fitness club which he later sold for a huge profit, which was used to launch his latest successful jewellery business Gerald Online.

Earlier this year Gerald was a TV business mentor to a group of celebrities taking part in the Comic Relief does The Apprentice.

Meet Gerald and the business winners at the Park Inn, Telford, on Friday 3 July.
