 Star Apprentice

When Kathryn Holloway commenced a modern apprenticeship with Network PR in 2003, little did she think that six years later she would be the Managing Director of her own business, Promofix Ltd.

After training as a graphic designer, Kathryn decided that a career in marketing was just the job and she has recently gained her Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

Kathryn said: “It helped having a boss like Roy Broad as he was really keen on professional marketing and sponsored me throughout my training, making sure that I could apply my marketing skills in the business.”

An example of Kathryn’s practical approach to marketing, was when she identified a need for good quality customised promotional items, which could be branded with individual logos or marketing slogans.

“Customers wanted a reliable local supplier, someone they could trust to design and deliver the perfect branded item for each promotion – so I thought I can fix that and Promofix was launched” said Kathryn.

Two years later and the fledgling business Promofix having won an impressive list of customers throughout Shropshire and beyond, was ready to be spun-off from Network PR, with Kathryn becoming the owner.

“Whilst it was always the plan that I should own and run Promofix, it was still a scary moment when I had to hand over the cash and sign on the dotted line” said Kathryn.

Promofix is now based at the Enterprise HQ in Shrewsbury, from where Kathryn will be supplying branded pens, badges, folders and even stress toys to beat the recession. If anyone can fix it, Promofix can.
